Release Notes
What's new?
v0.3.0
2026-11-01- SAI Statistics is now open source: its source code is published openly under the GNU AGPL-3.0 license.
- The Syntax tab is now called Code, and the R Terminal is now the R Console, grown into a full workspace: tabbed script editor, suggestions as you type, Environment, Files, History and Packages panes, a debugger, plot export and R Markdown/Quarto reports.
- A project file (.sdf) keeps your analysis results, AI chat and now its own code next to the data: open the file and its code is back, while a new dataset starts with empty editors. One "Save changes?" question covers everything unsaved.
- SPSS syntax covers much more (DO IF, DO REPEAT, COUNT, RECODE, VALUE LABELS and more); data can be saved as .sav and output exported to real Word and Excel files. Code from Paste R runs as-is in the R Console.
- The AI assistant also proposes R code, which you review and run yourself. It no longer signs you out on its own, Interpret sends tables with their titles in your interface language, and the model in use is shown by name.
- All three platforms ship the same R 4.6.1 with every package needed; the installer is signed and updates install from within the app. Statistical results were audited, with fixes in weighted analyses, Dunn's test, oblique rotations and missing values.
v0.2.38
2026-10-25- Exporting data to Excel works again, with the column names in the first row.
- When exporting data to SPSS, variable names SPSS does not accept (too long, starting with a digit, containing spaces or punctuation) no longer block the file: the name is adjusted for SPSS and the full name is kept as the variable label.
- SAI Statistics is now open source: its source code is published openly under the GNU AGPL-3.0, and the About window says so.
- On macOS the app now ships the same, newer R version (4.6.1) as on Windows and Linux, so analyses run on the same R on all three platforms.
- Security is tighter when exporting output to HTML or PDF and when pasting tables from other apps: code hidden in a file or on the clipboard never runs.
- The ribbon icons have been redrawn to match the look of the rest of the app.
v0.2.36
2026-10-21- Exporting output to Word and Excel now produces real .docx and .xlsx files: tables and charts look right in Word, and in Excel each analysis gets its own sheet with numbers you can calculate with.
- Syntax now runs DO REPEAT, ADD VALUE LABELS, FORMATS, STRING, NUMERIC, VARIABLE LEVEL and DELETE VARIABLES; VALUE LABELS now replaces the old labels, as in SPSS.
- The R terminal ships with ggplot2, readxl and lubridate; scripts open in tabs, unsaved scripts come back when you reopen the app, and Save writes over the same file.
- On Windows, stopping a running R command with Stop no longer closes the session; the objects you created stay where they are.
- The R and syntax editors gain Find/Replace (Ctrl+F, Ctrl+H) and R gains comment toggling (Ctrl+Shift+C); reports can be built from R Markdown and Quarto documents (.Rmd, .qmd).
- The R terminal has new Files and History panes; R now starts in your Documents folder, so you can read your data files by name alone.
v0.2.35
2026-10-20- Independent-Samples T Test, One-Way ANOVA and Means no longer open with a grouping variable already chosen; Linear Regression fills its independent variables only if you have assigned roles in Variable View.
- An analysis dialog remembers your last selections only on the same dataset; when you open another dataset, the previous file's selections no longer land on the wrong variables.
v0.2.34
2026-10-19- After editing or pasting cells, adding or deleting rows or columns, and undoing, the * in the title now always appears; New, Open and Import no longer close unsaved changes without asking.
- Dragging rows while a large dataset is still loading no longer loses rows; dragging waits until loading has finished.
- The filter and Split File setting of a deleted column no longer stay behind. Deleting several variables in Variable View can be undone in one step, and the last variable cannot be deleted.
- The Normality tab no longer gets stuck when you switch tabs; results refresh on their own when the data, filter or weight changes, and they follow your decimal separator setting.
- COMPUTE, IF, COUNT and DO IF in syntax, and Compute Variable, now also work on datasets with more than 50,000 rows and on empty ones. Files with very wide column widths now open.
- Summary and syntax lines of Output blocks are saved with the file, and table footnotes appear in every export. Aggregate, Transpose and Restructure no longer replace unsaved data without asking.
v0.2.33
2026-10-18- DO IF … ELSE IF … ELSE … END IF blocks in syntax now work correctly: each case gets only the computations of its own branch. Unsupported LOOP and DO REPEAT blocks are skipped and reported.
- IF and COMPUTE accept single-quoted text such as 'A', the EQ, NE, ~=, & and | operators, and functions such as RND, TRUNC, MISSING, SYSMIS, NVALID, SD, CONCAT, UPCASE, ANY and RANGE.
- Variable ranges such as score1 TO score4 now include every variable in between. Abbreviated commands such as FREQ, DESC and CORR are recognized.
- COUNT counts every value group and range; RECODE codes missing values (SYSMIS=…) and the LO THRU HI range correctly; RENAME VARIABLES works in list form and for swaps; SELECT IF accepts parenthesized conditions.
- In the R Terminal your dataset is loaded again after Stop, and a sink() or scan() left open between commands no longer locks the console.
- R output and messages appear in the order they were written; options(warn = 2) turns warnings into errors, and Turkish R error messages no longer show garbled characters.
v0.2.32
2026-10-18- The R Terminal now has a script editor: run the line or whole statement with Ctrl+Enter, get R's own suggestions as you type, open help with F1; the Environment pane lists your objects and View() opens tables in a sortable grid.
- Open a table you built in R as a new dataset with sai_commit(). Save R plots as PNG, SVG or PDF at the size and resolution you choose.
- The R Terminal has a Packages tab to list, load and install packages, and a viewer for interactive charts and tables. Errors appear in R's own wording with an expandable call list.
- R debugger: step through code line by line with browser() or debugonce() and inspect variables. Build a report with code, output and plots from your script and save it as HTML or PDF.
- The AI assistant now writes R code too; send the proposed code to your R script with one click, review it, then run it yourself.
- Output now reads top to bottom: the newest result is at the end, and exported files follow the same order as the screen. Check for Updates now shows its result in a window.
v0.2.31
2026-10-18- All windows now share one look: corners, borders, lists and buttons are consistent across the Data menu, analysis and Variable View windows.
- The Syntax tab has been refreshed: line numbers, failing lines marked, run only the selected lines, open/save .sps files, a Commands menu with ready-made examples for your dataset, and a variable list that inserts a name with one click.
- In the R Terminal, plots are collected in a side panel; enlarge them and send them to Output with one click. If the session stops, the reason is shown and it can be restarted with one click.
- In Variable View you can select and copy variable names: select by clicking, with Ctrl/Shift or by dragging, then copy with Ctrl+C or the right-click menu — one per line, on one line or with their labels. A name is now edited with a double-click.
v0.2.30
2026-10-17- The column filter in Data View now shows value labels, and you can search the filter by label name.
- Buttons in the welcome window and dialogs now share one consistent, tidier look.
v0.2.29
2026-10-12- Fixed the Bayesian independent-samples t test failing with "x or y must not contain missing or infinite values" when the grouping variable had empty values.
v0.2.28
2026-10-11- Every package needed by mixed models, Bayesian analyses, multiple imputation, GEE, exact tests and the other advanced analyses now comes with the app: these analyses run the first time, without an internet connection and without waiting.
- "R Packages" has been removed from the Utilities menu, as it is no longer needed.
v0.2.27
2026-10-11- Fixed automatic updates not installing after the download finished; future updates now install from within the app without trouble.
- If an update cannot be installed, Settings ▸ Update now shows a button that opens the download page.
v0.2.26
2026-10-11- Fixed the AI assistant failing to answer for some users with an "unknown_model" error; if a retired model is selected, the current model is now used automatically.
- The remaining balance in the chat panel now updates after every answer.
- AI data-sharing consent can now be reviewed, given or withdrawn in Settings ▸ AI, and the consent window is easier to read.
- Fixed Repeated Measures results not being shown when a between-subjects factor and descriptive statistics were selected together.
- Deleting your account has moved to a separate confirmation window in Settings.
v0.2.25
2026-10-11- Fixed analyses failing to run on some computers with a "file name conversion problem" error caused by the name of the user folder.
v0.2.24
2026-10-11- The "Setup Required" package list that some computers showed for no reason on the first start after an update no longer appears; if a package is genuinely missing, the app now installs it by itself in the background.
v0.2.23
2026-10-10- The statistics engine has been upgraded to the latest stable R (4.6.1), and the installer is noticeably smaller.
- R packages you installed yourself are adapted to the new version automatically in the background, and an interrupted package installation now completes itself on the next attempt.
- Cancelling an analysis no longer leaves a calculation running in the background.
v0.2.22
2026-10-10- The User Guide and Statistics Guide now also open in Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian, with updated menu paths and explanations in every language.
- Bayesian analyses now give the same posterior summary every time you run them on the same data; the random seed used is shown in the output.
- R packages you install yourself are now set up again automatically in the background when a future update needs it, so you don't have to reinstall them.
- Stability and security improvements.
v0.2.21
2026-10-10- The installer is smaller, and the app is now better protected against tampering with its files.
- Analyses now always use the verified package versions that ship with the app, even if other R packages are installed on your computer.
v0.2.20
2026-10-09- Fixed analyses not running and a "Setup Required" message appearing on Windows PCs with Smart App Control turned on.
v0.2.19
2026-10-07- On Windows you can now install just for your own account without administrator rights, or still choose to install for all users.
v0.2.18
2026-10-06- Choosing an AI assistant model is easier: each model card shows at a glance how capable, fast and economical it is.
v0.2.17
2026-10-06- AI assistant models are now listed with a simple cost level instead of complicated price figures.
v0.2.16
2026-10-05- The Windows installer now carries a verified publisher signature, so you see fewer security warnings during installation.
- New options in the General Linear Model, Mixed Models, ROC analysis, nonparametric tests, proportion tests and missing value analysis.
- You can read the license agreement during installation; when creating an account you accept the license and privacy terms.
v0.2.15
2026-09-29- Your analysis results are now saved together with your data file; reopen the file and the results are still there.
- When closing the app you get a single "Do you want to save?" question.
- A welcome window on startup: a new file, recent files and ready-made sample datasets to get going quickly.
- The AI assistant no longer gets stuck in long conversations; you can resume an interrupted answer with "Continue".
v0.2.14
2026-09-29- You can save your data as an SPSS (.sav) file, keeping variable and value labels and missing value definitions.
- Opening SPSS files now brings in missing value definitions and labels completely.
- When importing from Excel, dates appear correctly and codes with leading zeros such as "001" are kept.
- Fixes in the Data and Transform menus.
v0.2.13
2026-09-28- The window title shows the name of the open file and a marker for unsaved changes.
- The status bar shows how many cells you have selected in the data view.
- Your AI chat is saved together with your data file.
- You can check for and download updates yourself under Preferences ▸ Update.
- Some one-way ANOVA post hoc results were corrected; calculation formulas accept variable names with underscores and AND/OR/NOT.
v0.2.11
2026-09-25- A downloaded update now installs reliably with "Restart"; you can follow the download progress in the status bar.
- Crosstabs show categories with the labels you defined instead of codes.
- Proportion tests respect your missing value definitions and warn you if the chosen success value does not occur in the data.
v0.2.2
2026-09-23- The app checks for new versions on its own and lets you know.
- New analyses: Multinomial Logistic Regression and Ordinal Regression. Improvements to regression analyses and to the Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon tests.
v0.2.1
2026-09-21- Updates are installed only when you choose "Restart"; simply closing the app no longer starts the installation.
v0.2.0
2026-09-21- Automatic updates: you are notified when a new version is out; it downloads in the background and installs with one click.
